This early version of Rescue Me was from the first 'studio' recordings the Mandrakes did together, in fact recorded live with a bunch of other tracks in Alchemia, Islington in 2005 in a couple of hours. The track was new to the band at this point, hence the relaxed banter at the start and end. The only overdubs added later were the solo, backing vox and a first test of the Mellotron strings which we'd just got. What sounds like an acoustic guitar is actually just the rhythm guitar strumming being picked up by the main vocal mic as both were recorded live with the other instruments but in the isolation of a vocal booth.

A more together version of Rescue Me was recorded by The Mandrakes some time later and is available on Christy's Shine & Rise album.
